Florence: Le Murate Barcamp
Posted on Gennaio 15th, 2010H-Art is taking an active role at Le Murate, Florence’s newest center for culture and contemporary life, which will be launched in a sort of “preview” event this Saturday, January 16, 2010.
H-Art’s Social Media Team is excited to be a part of this moment of change in the city of Florence, and has volunteered its services for all the online communications for the event. In collaboration with the Assessorato alla Cultura e alla Contemporaneità (the city’s culture office), the team made the website for Le Murate, wrote the content, and set up the facebook fan page, twitter, and flickr account for photos.
On January 16th, there will first be a Barcamp from 14:00-18:00, at which H-Art will speak about social media as virtual space, followed by an assorted cultural offering from 18:00 to midnight of music, performance, improv theatre, and display of works by architecture and fashion students. H-Art will be present in the “Social Media Zone”, recording the event on all the major networks and encouraging passers-by to send a tweet with the hashtag #murate in order to express their hopes and suggestions for the new cultural space.
The restored ex-convent/ ex-jail will open to the public this Spring with four main areas:
• Le Murate will be an interdisciplinary ideas lab - not a gallery or museum,
• The Smart Dissidents 2.0 project provides housing at Le Murate for dissident bloggers
• The Literary Cafe will offer frequent cultural happenings
• A series of creative “botteghe” give on to the street and beckon in the public.
